For 65 years glassblowing has been in our family here in Australia, and in 2006 Cain started his glassblowing journey.
Training as a scientific glassblower manufacturing laboratory glassware with Carlton Glass, Cain learned the foundations of his skills.
The family history runs deep, with Cain learning from his father in law Steve Walkinshaw of Carlton Glass, who learned from his
father in law, Robert Cox of Carlton Glass. Cain moved in and out of glassblowing over the years, trying his hand in
other industries but ultimately his love for glassblowing prevailed.
From humble beginnings, Formation Glass was grown from the ground up on the Sunshine Coast, Australia.
“After years of admiring and appreciating the beauty of scientific glass, I always felt it had a place in design. “
From this thought, Formation Glass was launched in 2016 to specifically assist designers to bring their designs to life.
In 2026 Jody and Steve Walkinshaw of Carlton Glass moved to retire from manufacturing laboratory glassware,
and this is where Cain officially re-entered scientific glass under the name Formation Glass.
Cain, and his wife Ash, are proud to continue the family business with the same quality, excellence and precision.
